This is the shocking moment a huge wild bear smashed a window to steal food from an office in Thailand.

Footage shows the hungry forest animal reaching through the window to tuck into a meal at a ranger's office in Nakhon Ratchasima province on November 20.

Flight Sergeant First Class Kroekkrai Trakanthai, who was on duty at the Khao Yai National Park at the time, tried to drive away the black bear by banging on the pantry door. However, the ravenous beast, though startled, decided to make off with the entire pot of food.

The Asian black bear has rough fur that is predominantly black or brown throughout its body, except for its chest, which features a distinct V-shaped patch of light yellow colour. The bear has longer fur on its shoulders and neck region.

Asian black bears are have large ears and are able to walk fully on their feet, with their footprints smaller than an average human's.

They are categorised as a protected wild animal under the Wild Animal Conservation and Protection Act of Thailand.
