STORYLINE:

The border county of Hekou in southwest China's Yunnan Province is home to a major China-Vietnam land port.

Many border residents from Vietnam are doing business or working in Hekou.

23-year-old Ly Ta So is one of them.

A few years ago, she came to Hekou to study at a vocational school.

After graduation, Ly Ta So got a job at a local trading company. She is mainly responsible for tracking logistics information and providing translation and interpretation services for the clients.

For her, living in China is a pleasant experience.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): LY TA SO, Vietnamese working in China
"What I like most about China is that you can order takeout whenever you're hungry. And the bicycle-sharing service is also very convenient. You can find the bicycles almost everywhere. I like shopping online as well. In China, the shipping costs are very low."

In addition to the convenient way of living and comfortable working environment, the biggest drive for Ly Ta So to stay in China comes from a dream she has had since childhood.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LY TA SO, Vietnamese working in China
"As my home is near the border, I had been thinking about going to China to learn Chinese since childhood, and then hopefully I could find a job here. In the beginning, I just wanted to be a translator, but with this job I have now, I want to know more about trade. I'm working hard every day to study and pursue my dream."

In the past few years, the company Ly Ta So works in has seen a continuous expansion of its international trade business, which has created more job opportunities for people in neighboring countries. At present, over 40 Vietnamese employees are working in the company.
