On December 5, 2023, in Sanming City, Fujian Province, a heartwarming scene unfolded as students of Sanming Medical And Polytechnic Vocational College tactfully rescued a wild animal on campus.

The footage shows an injured wild animal, later identified as a Reeves's muntjac, being attacked by two stray dogs. As it had passed the door closing time of the dormitory, students spontaneously threw bottles through windows and tried to drive away the stray dog from a distance upon seeing the scene. One student maneuvered a drone close to the muntjac to protect it from being dragged away by dogs.

After the school security section alarm, the local police arrived and sent the injured Reeves's muntjac to the Wildlife Conservation Center for medical help. According to Dr. Zhang from the rescue center that the muntjac was seriously injured when it was brought in and is still under medical treatment now.

Based on media reports, Reeves's muntjacs are widely distributed in southern China's Fujian Province, and the one in the video was supposedly straying into the campus while foraging for food.
