This is the nail-biting moment a driver narrowly dodged death as a truck crushed his motorcycle in Thailand.

The motorist had been travelling along the Hat Yai District of Songkhla province, but did not see the truck making a turn into a gate on June 12.

Dramatic CCTV footage shows the man slamming into the larger vehicle, which did not have its signal light turned on, then scrambling out of the way as his two-wheeler was trampled by the tyres.

No one was seriously injured, but the motorcycle was destroyed in the accident.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
