STORYLINE:

China and Jordan have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on jointly promoting the construction of the Belt and Road.

The two sides agreed to actively promote policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and people-to-people ties, and further deepen practical cooperation in various fields to better benefit the two peoples.

A Jordanian economic expert said the closer Belt and Road cooperation will open new horizons for the partnership between the two countries.

"I believe that the signing of this MoU comes as a culmination of the Jordan-China relations that have extended throughout history. The Jordan-China relations in political, economic and cultural fields have not been interrupted since the beginning of this relationship, which has exceeded four decades and is approaching five decades.
The memorandum has great importance as it coincides with the vision of economic modernization in Jordan."

"The signing of this MoU will certainly help increase Chinese investments. We hope there will be new investments related to a broader scope, the scope of Jordan and the scope of the region.
