STORYLINE:

Türkiye has evacuated a total of 1,047 people from Gaza since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas on Oct. 7, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Keceli said Wednesday.
   
The evacuees first arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo by car and then headed to Türkiye by plane, Keceli said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
   
"The list of our citizens who are currently waiting for evacuation is constantly updated, and coordination is carried out with the relevant authorities," he said, adding that Türkiye aims to conclude the evacuation of all its citizens from Gaza safely and as soon as possible.
   
Israel has been conducting a wide-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip in retaliation for the latter's surprise attack in southern Israel on Oct. 7, which killed about 1,200 people. The Palestinian death toll in the Palestinian enclave has exceeded 18,400 since the eruption of the conflict.
