STORYLINE:

The Turkish economy's total turnover gained 4.1 percent month-on-month in October, according to official data on Wednesday.

The total turnover index of the industry, construction, trade and service sectors in Türkiye increased by 65.3 percent annually in October this year, the Turkish Statistical Institute said.

When looking at the details of the total turnover, in October 2023, the annual industrial sector turnover index increased by 54.6 percent while the construction turnover index jumped by 98.6 percent.

The trade turnover index increased by 69.4 percent annually and the service turnover index hiked by 63.5 percent in the same period.

The industrial sector turnover index increased by 2.9 percent, the construction turnover index by 4.6 percent, the trade turnover index by 4.7 percent, and the service turnover index by 4.3 percent month-on-month in October.

Earlier, the country's statistical office announced the economy grew 5.9 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2023.

It is the 13th consecutive quarter of economic growth since the second quarter of 2020 when measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic were implemented.

The Turkish central bank increased its policy rate by 500 basis points to 40 percent in late November to curb the lira's devaluation and tame the persistent inflation, which climbed to 61.36 percent in October.
