Two trains collided, leaving hundreds injured in snowy tragedy in northern China.

The video was filmed in Beijing on December 14.

Eyewitnesses recount the terrifying moment as one passenger, seated in the detached carriage, heard a thunderous crash, causing standing commuters to tumble, filling the cabin with screams.

Promptly responding to the crisis, key leaders from the Municipal Party Committee and Government rushed to the scene, orchestrating operations and establishing an on-site accident response leadership team. Swift reactions from transportation, fire, health, public security, and emergency services, alongside local governments, were instrumental in rescue efforts.

As of 23:00 on the 14th, the evacuation and rescue operations were largely concluded. A total of 515 individuals were transported to hospitals for examination, with 102 sustaining fractures. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported. By 6:00 the following morning, 423 had been discharged, 25 were under observation, and 67 remained hospitalized.

Preliminary investigations point to slippery tracks due to snow, causing a downgrade in the signal of the front train. Emergency braking led to a halt, but the rear train, positioned on a downhill slope, slid uncontrollably in the snowy conditions, resulting in the collision.

A dedicated investigation team has been formed by the municipal government to thoroughly examine the incident, assess emergency response procedures, draw vital lessons from the accident, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure effective corrective measures are implemented.
