STORYLINE:

Northeast China's Jilin Province issued a new yellow alert for a cold wave on Saturday, with many parts of the province forecasted to experience a drop of temperature by 10 to 12 degrees Celcius.

The province has taken multiple measures to minimize the impact of the cold wave and ensure the normal life of residents.

"We immediately activated a snow removal emergency plan to ensure that the main roads and lanes in all villages and towns are cleared of snow. Next, we'll ramp up efforts to remove snow around the clock, to minimize the impact of the cold wave."

"We organized personnel to remove the ice and snow on the squares and platforms. We laid anti-slip mats at key spots such as the entrances and exits of the station and also added staff members at various key spots to remind passengers of safety precautions."
