A miniature artist created realistic dioramas of slum houses in the Philippines.

Footage shows Nhoda Munoz adding a small kite on top of an electrical pole for a more detailed depiction of a Filipino shanty in Pampanga province.

Kites often played by kids living in cramped city spaces with limited access to parks often get their toys entangled in poorly maintained wirings, as shown in the artwork.

Nhoda's diorama also featured star-shaped lanterns called ‘parol,' which is distinct in the Philippines and first used during the Spanish colonisation when Christianity was introduced to the archipelago.

There were also chickens, recyclable junk in carts, and bicycles in front of the houses, which are also a common fixture in simple Filipino family homes.

The miniature artist said: ‘I was a full-time artist before I started creating dioramas. I made this as a brain therapy to combat the depression I was feeling during the lockdown. As a full-time tattoo artist, I lost my livelihood when our country faced pandemic.'

Since then, Nhoda has created more miniature houses in his backyard using recycled materials, all of the details carefully handcrafted and put together.

Miniature art is a type of art that is created on a smaller scale. It can include paintings, sculptures, and other forms of art created with great detail and care.
