Emergency services in Mossman, Queensland, Australia, evacuated 12 individuals from their homes after ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper triggered flash flooding. The Mossman River breached its banks around 1 am, prompting police and fire services to act swiftly.

Eight people, including five children and a dog, were safely escorted to the city library on foot. Four more individuals were later evacuated, while six self-evacuated. Approximately 40 people remained in place as floodwaters rose.

One residence experienced inundation with about one meter of floodwater, and several vehicles suffered damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and everyone is accounted for.

Recovery efforts are underway in Mossman and across Far North Queensland, with continued strong winds and heavy rainfall expected. Residents are urged to stay indoors, and safety assessments are ongoing. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper has weakened into a tropical low, moving toward the Gulf of Carpentaria. Stay informed with Bureau of Meteorology warnings, particularly regarding multiple flood warnings in the Far North.
