This area is located in the middle section of the Hengduan Mountains, with a majestic Yunling that runs through the entire area from north to south. There are 20 peaks with an altitude of over 5000 meters, and the main peak is Zhala Queni Peak, with an altitude of 5640 meters and a relative height difference of over 3000 meters. The vertical distribution of vegetation in the area is obvious, with 7-16 plant distribution bands within a horizontal distance of less than 40 kilometers, which is equivalent to several thousand kilometers of plant distribution bands from south to north in China, and is a magnificent sight. There are more than ten types of national key protected plants in this area, including star leaved grass and Lancang yellow cedar. There are more than 30 types of national key protected animals, including Yunnan golden monkeys, clouded leopards, and red pandas. It is known as the "kingdom of alpine flora and fauna in the cold temperate zone" and has high scientific value.
The towering Yunling belongs to the Hengduan Mountains, with continuous peaks and white snow. Looking from afar at the main peak, which is covered in snow all year round, it looks like a galloping white horse, hence the name "White Horse Snow Mountain". In order to protect the natural landscape of the typical mountain vertical zone of the Hengduan Mountains and the soil and water of the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, 190000 hectares of natural reserves were established on the slopes of the Baisha Snow Mountain and Renzhi Snow Mountain in Deqin County, Yunnan Province in 1983, and have now expanded to 270000 hectares. There are 20 main peaks with an altitude exceeding 5000 meters in the entire protected area; The highest peak is Zhala Queni, reaching 5640 meters.
