In the aftermath of the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Gansu, northern China, a golden retriever named Hero faced a harrowing ordeal in the mud for over 30 hours before being successfully rescued, when the temperature plummeted to a bone-chilling minus 16 degrees Celsius during the night.

Despite the challenging conditions, Hero remarkably recovered well and is now in good health.

The earthquake happening on December 18 is reported to have killed 148 people so far, injuring nearly 800, and made many people homeless.

其中青海海东民和县中川乡的金田村和草滩村，由地震引发了局地砂涌，两个村被淤泥包围，20名群众失联，救援仍在继续。
12月20日上午11时许，在民和金田村，一金毛犬被困泥浆30余小时后，被武警青海总队海东支队机动中队搜救人员成功解救，现已被送回金田村安置点与主人团聚。据金毛主人介绍，民和夜间气温最低降至零下16摄氏度，狗狗很幸运能生还，而且现在身体状态恢复得很好。
