In a delightful pre-Christmas surprise, the spectacled bears at Schonbrunn Zoo indulged in a specially prepared Christmas tree adorned with edible decorations. The innovative zookeeper team adorned the tree with carrot tinsel, bell pepper rings, and apple slices, offering the bears a festive feast. The bears, known as "carrot tigers," meticulously enjoyed each treat until reaching the pinnacle – an apple atop the tree.

This year, the zoo went above and beyond, creating an entire climbing garden with tree trunks for the spectacled bears. Zoo director Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck highlighted the recent redesign of the 1,400 square meter facility, emphasizing a natural environment with live trees, and shared that the bears have adapted well to the new setting. The facility now houses spectacled bears and coatis, providing engaging interactions between the two species.

Vienna Zoo, open daily in December and January from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including holidays, invites visitors to witness the festive moments and diverse animal activities during the holiday season.
