A popular giant snowman has transformed a park in China into a snowy wonderland after it made its annual appearance ahead of the winter festivities.

Footage shows the massive 59 ft tall snowman standing tall in the city of Harbin, in Heilongjiang, northern China.

Located in the Qunli Music Corridor in the Daoli District, the smiling snowman was reportedly completed on Friday, December 15.

A total of 2,000 cubic metres (70,629 cubic feet) of snow were used in its creation.

Chinese media claimed that the super-sized design, which has in recent years become the symbol of the city's winter festivities, attracts thousands of tourists each year.

Videos of the snowman have meanwhile turned the snowman into an internet sensation, with many locals expressing their will visit the attraction.
