The Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences has unveiled a gripping video capturing a flyover of the Karymsky volcano on December 24, featuring the dramatic eruption of smoke.

Situated on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia, Karymsky stands tall as one of the region's most active stratovolcanoes, sharing the spotlight with Shiveluch as Kamchatka's largest and most continuously erupting volcanic duo.

Named after the Karyms ethnic group in Russia, Karymsky boasts a symmetrical structure, rising within a 5-km-wide caldera shaped during the early Holocene.

Recent footage showcases much of the cone veiled by lava flows less than 200 years old, highlighting the volcano's dynamic geological activity.

Known for historical eruptions marked by vulcanian or vulcanian-strombolian patterns, Karymsky is presently entrenched in an unbroken cycle of eruption since 1996, solidifying its status as the peninsula's most active and reliable volcano.
