The dramatic video shows a passing motorist chasing after a burning lorry carrying bales of hay on a motorway.

Smartphone footage shows a woman driving behind the truck on a motorway in the city of Chengdu, in Sichuan province, China, on Thursday, December 14.

In the clip, she can be seen chasing the vehicle, whilst honking and yelling at the driver to make him understand that the hay loaded in the trailer had caught fire.

After nearly four minutes of driving behind him, the driver finally heard the lady after she opened her car's window and screamed that the truck was alight.

He then quickly hit the brakes and pulled over, after which the woman called the fire department to put down the fire.

The motorist said: 'We were on the way home when we smelled the hay and saw this truck full of hay on fire.

'The driver of the truck didn't hear us at first and we started honking the horn like crazy. But after he heard us, he stopped the truck. We then called the fire department.'

'It's not that the driver didn't see it. From what we saw, it went from just burning a little bit to being fully engulfed in flames in just a short minute.'
