A total of 87 students and 15 teachers in the Yangshan Hope Primary School returned to classes on Monday after professional safety assessments on the school buildings.
SOUNDBITE (Chinese): HU WANHUI, Headmaster of Yangshan Hope Primary School
"Generally speaking, the damage caused by earthquakes in our school is not severe. There has been no obvious damage to the kindergarten building, toilets and dining hall. Only slight cracks and bulges in the external insulation layer of the building have been found. Three professional safety assessments were conducted after the earthquake, and the results all showed it was very safe to live.
In the following days, we plan to conduct earthquake prevention drills and psychological counseling. We will also help students learn scientific and cultural knowledge."
