Elderly students donned colourful costumes as they marched around a village for their school sports day in central Thailand.

Footage shows pupils of the school for older adults dressed in flashy pink, orange, and purple garb with feathered staves on hand as they walked around the Sai Thong subdistrict in Ang Thong province on December 20.

They were joined by a marching band from the subdistrict administrative organisation for the 400-metre procession.

Among the highlights of the parade was Granny Tuenjai, 66, in a white top and white-and-orange frilled skirt dancing to the beat of the band's drums.

Somsak Nimwong, chief executive of the Sai Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, said: 'The school's sports day has two teams, orange and purple. The aim of the parade was to enhance the health of students, encourage them to engage in activities collectively, foster unity, and allow them to actively participate in sports.'
