Footage shows the animals inside their enclosure and appearing to tremble amid the snowy ground at the Qingdao Polar Ocean Park in Shandong province on November 6.
Onlookers wondered if the aquatic flightless birds were uncomfortable due to the cold waves.
However, one of the caretakers explained that the Southern rockhopper penguins exhibit such behaviour as part of their natural activity to stretch their muscles. The temperature from 2 to 5 degrees Celsius is optimal for them.
