An injured turtle lost in the middle of a road was rescued by motorists.

The red-eared slider wandered aimlessly along the motorway when Worarudee Iampho passed by with her friends and saw it in Chonburi province, Thailand on November 6.

Footage shows the amphibian crawling in one lane and was almost crushed by an oncoming pickup truck before Worarudee and her companion came to pick it up.

The turtle had a small portion of its shell near the right hind leg chipped off. It was put on the back of the car and Worarudee drove it to her home.

She said: ‘Some parts of its shell was missing but managed to live normally.'

Worarudee took the animal home and built it a home in a pond in her backyard.
