Gale force winds from Storm Gertrude on Friday caused a bizarre weather phenomenon in the Peak District - the backwards waterfall.

The remarkable clip shows Kinder Downfall, the largest waterfall in the National Park, appearing to defy gravity and flow upwards.

Kinder downfall is the largest waterfall in the Peak District and sits on the western side of Kinder Scout. Here it is being blown backwards by Storm Gertrude in gale force winds.

After the earlier rain had cleared the sun broke through but the winds remained strong on top of the exposed plateau of Kinder Scout. These are clips of a video of the waterfall from all angles including a photogenic rainbow effect within the spray when placing myself between the sun's rays and the downfall.
