The operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR) deepens the friendship between the people of Indonesia and China, exerting a positive influence on enhancing the relationship between the two countries, said Garibaldi Thohir, chairman of the China Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"I think the Jakarta-Bandung HSR is very good, indeed. I see the enthusiasm of Indonesian people to ride the HSR, Whoosh. We call it Whoosh. 
So with the advanced Chinese technology and friendly Indonesian service, the HSR is a big allure for Indonesians. 
And in my opinion, the impact of HSR is huge. I see the economic improvement, at least in Bandung, West Java, which has yielded positive outcomes. 
I think Indonesia should learn from China as I saw with my own eyes that the interconnection of cities in China is very reliable and extraordinarily good due to the high-speed railways. 
In my opinion, the operation of the Jakarta-Bandung HSR has created a very positive impact on relations between the two countries."

The Jakarta-Bandung HSR, connecting Jakarta and West Java's provincial capital Bandung, has handled over 1 million passenger trips since its official operation on Oct. 17.

It cuts the travel time between the two cities from over three hours to around 40 minutes.
