Police officer rescues numb woman drowning in frozen lake in northwest China
The video showed a woman was witnessed falling into the water accidentally and rescued by a police officer who responded to the call.
The video filmed on December 22 in Xianyang, northern China, shows a policeman, Chen Geng, crawling 30 meters across a thin layer of ice, inching closer to the drowned woman.
The woman's consciousness was blurred at minus 10 degrees Celsius. Upon reaching her, Chen continuously called out, hoping for a swift recovery of consciousness, and attempting to grasp the submerged individual's clothing to pull her up.
Subsequently, Yan Ming, a Lake Management Office staff member, arrived at the scene and joined forces to assist in the rescue.
After more than ten minutes of combined efforts, the woman was finally rescued and urgently taken to the hospital, while both rescuers were also assisted ashore by onlookers.
Following emergency treatment, the current condition of the woman is reported as stable.
