West Midlands Police have released alarming video footage capturing the moment 29-year-old Thomas Freeman, now sentenced to one year in jail, recklessly ignored 'give way' markings, colliding with a cyclist on Wildcroft Road in Coventry. The incident occurred on May 6, leaving the 71-year-old cyclist with a brain bleed, broken shoulder, and ankle.

The victim, a seasoned cyclist and local cycling club member, spent five days in the hospital after the crash. Freeman, driving a Citroen C3 Flair, pulled into the junction, intersecting with the cyclist and launching her into the air.

Freeman appeared at Warwick Crown Court on December 21, pleading guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving. In addition to the jail term, he received a two-year driving ban.
