The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has initiated "Operation Oz and Nir," focusing on the southern Gaza Strip's Khirbat Ikhza'a area. This marks the first deployment of the 5th Brigade Combat Team since the beginning of the war. On October 7th, Hamas militants launched an attack from Khirbat Ikhza'a, infiltrating Israeli territory and conducting a brutal assault on Kibbutz Nir Oz, resulting in the murder and abduction of numerous civilians.

Under the command of the Gaza Division, the 5th Brigade, alongside the Armored and Combat Engineering Corps, is working to gain operational control of Khirbat Ikhza'a. The ongoing operation has resulted in the elimination of Hamas militants and significant strikes on tunnel shafts, routes, and anti-tank missile launch posts. The soldiers have discovered numerous tunnel shafts and confiscated a substantial cache of weapons, including AK-47s, rifles, grenades, mines, launchers, and mortars.

Additionally, combat engineering soldiers have targeted Hamas infrastructure within residences associated with the October 7th massacre in Kibbutz Nir Oz. The IDF emphasizes its commitment to combatting Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and the attached footage and materials provide insights into the ongoing military operations.
