The Central Confederal Committee (CCC) of the CGT declared on Thursday a national general strike starting at 12 on January 24, which will include a mobilization to Congress in rejection of the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) of economic deregulation dictated by the government of Javier Milei.

SOUNDBITE: Hector Daer, co-head of the CGT: "On the 24th we will hold a strike with mobilization of Congress to support those deputies and senators who say that this cannot happen in Argentina. Because if you give the sum of public power to a President beyond the votes he has taken, for two years, we will be faced with a circumstance that a President will have his entire term with the sum of public power."

SOUNDBITE: Pablo Moyano, truck leader: "It is a cessation of activities to protect workers so they can get to Congress. It will be a mass mobilization of unions attached to the CGT and all the social movements that are harmed in this DNU and this madness that is carrying out the 'envoy from heaven' that shits in the Congress and the workers. We’ll be on the street which is what we’ve always done."
