A home at 8092 Heyward Dr. in Indianapolis became a scene of chaos on the 29th of December at 5:33 PM as a significant fire, potentially caused by electrical issues, forced the evacuation of a family of four. Occupants, alert to the smell of smoke, swiftly left the two-story structure, activated alarms aiding the evacuation.

Upon arrival, Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames emanating from the garage. Acting promptly, crews brought the blaze under control within 50 minutes, preventing injuries to firefighters. The family of four, two adults and two children, were assessed on-site by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) medics and released with SOR's (Signs of Release).

Four neighbors, who courageously entered the structure to assist, were also checked by medics and released with SOR's. IFD and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Fire Investigations are diligently working to determine the exact cause of the fire.
