In the locality of Giazza, within the municipality of Selva di Progno, Italian firefighters engaged in the recovery of personal effects and skeletal remains from a canal on the 30th of December.

It is presumed that the recovered remains may belong to a man who went missing in the area at the end of June 2022, with traces of his whereabouts lost. The identification and retrieval of the remains followed the reactivation of search efforts, initiated after the discovery of a backpack and a phone in the vicinity.

The firefighting team's SAPR (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) unit conducted an aerial survey of the area, pinpointing additional personal effects in a canal just above the settlement of Giazza. Due to the rugged and inaccessible terrain, the helicopter "Drago 154" was deployed today, lowering two operators to the location. The helicopter rescue team successfully recovered personal effects and remains, which have been made available to the judicial authorities for identification purposes. Firefighting operations concluded around 4:00 PM.
