Three-year-old girl rescued by officials after she falls into 30-feet open borewell in western India
A three-year-old girl was rescued by the officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in an arduous operation after she had fallen into an open borewell in western India's Gujarat.
This incident happened in Ran village of DevBhoomi Dwarka district on January 1, 2024.
Visuals showed the rescue operation in progress to save the child. An excavator was used to dig up the ground next to the borewell and the officials monitored the girl with the use of a camera. Visuals on their screens showed the girl inside the borewell as she was stuck and holding onto ropes.
The incident happened at 1:00 pm IST (Indian Standard Time) and the girl was rescued at around 9:48 pm following a long rescue operation. The officials were seen slowly taking out the kid from the narrow borewell by pulling out the ropes which she had held on to. The girl had unfortunately lost consciousness inside the borewell and was rushed to the hospital for treatment in an ambulance. According to reports, unfortunately, the child passed away.
As per a report, the girl had fallen into this 30-feet deep open borewell, whose diameter was approximately 7" (175mm). A team from the fire brigade was also involved in this rescue operation.
