Good samaritans saved a cat trapped in a high-rise drainpipe plunge in southern China.

The video was filmed in Chongqing City on December 15, 2023.

A cat found itself trapped in a precarious situation, stuck in a drainpipe on the seventh-floor rooftop terrace for over three days.

The call for help reached the compassionate animal rescuer, Xu Zhe, after concerned citizens spotted the desperate cat. Xu, along with a team of dedicated companions, wasted no time and rushed to the scene.

Perched approximately 1.5 metres from the pipe's opening, the cat lay motionless with eyes wide open, a mix of despair and fear evident in its gaze. The feline's head was awkwardly positioned at the bottom, obstructed by the pipe and layers of rusted cement.

Xu, a seasoned rescuer with seven years of experience, expressed disbelief at the unusual predicament. Undeterred, the team brainstormed solutions and crafted makeshift tools to carefully remove the sludge and rust within the pipe, ensuring they didn't harm the stranded cat.

As the hours passed and darkness enveloped the scene, the team's painstaking efforts bore fruit. Slowly but surely, they managed to create openings, allowing the cat to reveal its head.

Fortunately, the cat's body wasn't wedged, enabling it to crawl back towards the pipe's entrance. With jubilation, the rescue team lifted it out of its confined space, marking the triumphant end to the intense ordeal.

Post-rescue, the cat was swiftly transported to a veterinary hospital for a thorough examination and treatment. After a night in intensive care, the resilient cat showed signs of improvement. By the third day, the feline had transitioned to a regular ward, displaying the feisty demeanour that had been momentarily subdued.

Xu Zhe revealed that the cat has now made a full recovery and has found a forever home within the walls of the pet hospital.

Drawing parallels to the iconic film "The Shawshank Redemption", observers can't help but liken Andy's journey to that of the protagonist who finds a new lease on life in the confines of a pipe. The cat's new moniker, "Andy," is a fitting tribute to its resilient spirit and the second chance it's been granted.
