The tide will bring organic matter to the shore. At low tide, sand crabs will come out of their holes, looking for food. This crab uses its paws to claw and take sand through its mouth and after eating all the organic matter from the sand it will take other sand as well. During this process, they will form the sand into small balls and that is why we often see these small 'balls' on the beach.
