The video shows Russian soldiers of the Western group completing combat practice at a training ground in Ukraine.

Units of the 1st Guards Tank Army underwent tactical training before carrying out military tasks near the city of Kupiansk, in Ukraine's Kharkiv Oblast on Thursday, December 28.

According to Russia's Ministry of Defence, the training programme included manoeuvering with small arms, driving combat vehicles, operating unmanned aerial vehicles, and providing first aid.

Fire and tactical training were conducted during both day and night, several hours each day, the ministry added.

A senior instructor at the base, named only as Lesnik, said: 'The emphasis is on tactics so that the military personnel understand how to work in groups, pairs, threes, and sixes, how to move in a combat formation.

'Elements are practiced with various types of weapons.

'Training sessions with military personnel on tactical medicine are conducted, which will always be useful not only in carrying out combat tasks.'

One of the mentors, identified as Hamer, said: 'At the training ground, the main thing is to practice clear and coordinated actions, as well as command skills, movement control, and fire control.

'Complex tactical exercises are already taking place here. Without control in battle, success cannot be achieved. Experienced instructors arrive at the training ground to train military personnel.

'We try to absorb their experience to the maximum. For this, each fighter must have command skills honed. So that each fighter, if necessary, can help, point out mistakes to others right there.

'We remind them that there will no longer be instructors correcting fighters during the battle. Some actions must be reflexive.

'We explain to the fighters that now they are a unified whole, one team, where everyone must be for each other. Now they are in a combat brotherhood.'
