Double-decker ploughs through busy traffic as driver suddenly faints
This is the shocking moment a double-decker veers off the road and crashes into several vehicles as its driver suddenly fell ill and fainted behind the wheel.
The incident occurred along the Third Ring Road in Beijing, China, at around noon on December 26.
At 11:56am, Bus 368 was travelling down the southern section of Princess Tomb Bridge when the driver suddenly fainted.
Dash-cam footage shows the large city bus driving normally when suddenly, it broke through the meridian strip and went into the opposite lane, where it collided with an oncoming white sedan.
Both the white sedan and the bus suffered damage.
The bus struck several more vehicles on the busy road before coming to a final stop when the onboard conductor slammed the brakes.
Two individuals on the bus reportedly sustained minor injuries, while no injuries were reported in the other vehicles.
Another video shows the moment the driver begins to faint and loses control of the bus full of passengers.
Both the driver and the two injured people were rushed to a local hospital. No further information has been given on their current condition.
Meanwhile, local authorities arrived at the scene and cleared up the road. Normal traffic has since been restored, according to officials.
The Beijing Public Transport Group said in a statement: 'The city's public transportation group consistently prioritizes the health management and safety education of both drivers and passengers.
'We will promptly investigate the cause of the incident, implement targeted measures, and strive to provide passengers with safe and reliable transportation services.'
