A man narrowly dodged serious injury as a barbell took an unexpected plunge onto his back in southern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province on December 30, 2023.

A barbell dislodged and crashed onto a man's back when he was casually using his phone while sitting under the barbell rack at a gym.

The individual, known as Mr Zhang, stated that he hadn't properly secured the barbell himself. Fortunately, the impact wasn't severe, and he didn't seek medical attention afterwards. He mentioned experiencing some lingering pain in his back.
