Snakes coil around each other as they battle for mates
A pair of snakes coiled around each other in a hypnotic mating ritual to fight for mates in a resident's yard in Thailand.
Footage shows the two radiated rat snakes, each around 4ft long, entwined on the ground as they appeared to battle for dominance in Ang Thong province on December 31.
Reptile catcher Ratha Tapianthong caught both reptiles barehanded, and hauled them into the wilderness away from the residential area.
She said: 'Radiated rat snakes are not venomous, but they can be aggressive. They will try to make themselves look bigger and bare their fangs at threats.'
She added that the snakes were likely competing for a mate.
