Resident injured when fireworks shoot into house during New Year countdown
A resident was injured when fireworks shot into his house during New Year celebrations in Thailand.
Surapon Loychune had bought the fireworks to join the New Year merrymaking in Pathum Thani province on December 31.
When midnight came, he placed the box of explosives on top of an empty oil barrel out on the street, then lit them up sending the spectacular flares into the night sky.
However, the explosions had toppled the box over, with the shots aimed at the family's yard.
Residents marvelling at the dazzling display ran when the fireworks went off on the ground instead.
Surapon suffered minor injuries on his back.
He said: 'I admit that I was negligent. I only found out later that the correct way to use the fireworks is to secure them so they don't shake when lit up. We were lucky no one was seriously hurt.'
