A strong earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture on January 1. According to USGS, the magnitude was 7.5.

Shaking was felt in widespread areas, and tsunami warnings were issued for several prefectures along the Japan Sea Coast. At least 78 are dead in Ishikawa, as of latest reports.

This video shows inside a bowling alley in Ishikawa with people hiding under tables, shaking monitors during the earthquake.
