Six teens were rescued from a Ferris wheel that had stopped in Penza, Russia, on January 2.

The waterfront ride had unexpectedly come to a halt leaving six teenagers stranded in a cabin 35 metres in the air.

Braving heavy snowfall, emergency personnel used a winch to bring the cabin down to the ground before safely rescuing the six youths.

In a tense situation on the evening of January 2, a popular waterfront ride in the City of Sputnik came to a sudden stop, trapping six passengers, including teenagers, in a cabin at a height of 35 meters. Emergency Situations Ministry personnel and rescuers from the Penza Fire and Rescue Center swiftly responded to the scene.

Braving heavy snowfall, rescue teams utilized a winch and determined effort to bring the cabins down, successfully liberating the stranded individuals. The incident, still under investigation, prompted Governor Oleg Melnichenko to commend the professionalism of the rescue teams, assuring residents that despite the challenges, the New Year's festivities should proceed without concern.
