Multiple manhole covers were blasted into the air after a boy stuffed ignited firecrackers into a drain in southern China.

Dramatic CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Neijiang in Sichuan Province on January 3.

Local shop owners reported that the boy suffered facial burns and his clothes were torn, but he remains conscious with no life-threatening injuries. Due to damage to nearby gas pipelines, businesses in the vicinity are currently unable to operate.

In response, the local gas company stated that the firecrackers ignited marsh gas, triggering an explosion that damaged several gas pipelines.

There are multiple gas leaks currently under investigation, and repairs are underway to address the damaged infrastructure.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
