Good Samaritans unit to rescue father and son trapped in frozen water in China
A group of kind-hearted people united to rescue a father and a son trapped in frozen water in China. The video was filmed in Beijing on December 31, 2023.
The father was seen attempting to place his child on his back in an effort to climb onto the ice, all met with unfortunate failure. Mr. Kang, a security officer at Shichahai, described the scene, stating that upon patrolling, they spotted the two individuals in distress. Racing to the scene, they found proactive citizens already engaged in rescue efforts. Kang emphasized the urgency of the situation as they, too, jumped into action, joining the rescue mission.
As the group swelled to five or six individuals battling the biting cold of the river, rescue attempts focused on keeping the boy afloat. Despite thin ice posing challenges, more people joined the effort. Some fell into the river due to the fragile ice, prompting others to bring lifebuoys, extend wooden poles, and even use scarves as makeshift aids.
Eventually, with the collaborative efforts of compassionate citizens, the child was rescued, and a rope system ensured the safe retrieval of the submerged rescuers.
Following the successful rescue, ambulances promptly transported the individuals to the hospital. Fortunately, medical examinations revealed no serious injuries, and all involved parties were discharged.
An investigation unveiled that the boy's father was on a call when the child, seizing an unguarded moment, climbed over a railing into a restricted icy area, leading to the water incident.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
