Electric vehicle (EV) sales more than doubled in Australia in 2023 to a record high, data has revealed.
According to the data, which was published by peak industry body the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) on Friday, Australians bought 87,217 battery EVs in the calendar year 2023, representing 7.2 percent of all new car sales, up from 3.2 percent, 33,410 EVs in 2022.
Sales of battery EVs, hybrids and plug-in hybrids accounted for 16.2 percent of total new vehicles sales.
