The 36th edition of Summernats, one of Australia's biggest car events, opened Thursday in the nation's capital city of Canberra, attracting thousands of visitors.
Held annually since 1987, the festival is a celebration of modified cars, featuring competitive driving events as well as music, exhibitions and trade shows.
The event is being held from Jan. 4 to Jan. 7.
