STORYLINE:

Dongxing Port, the China-Vietnam border port in Dongxing City in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, handled more than 5.54 million inbound and outbound passengers in 2023, ranking first among China's border ports.

Dongxing is China's only port city connected both by land and sea with ASEAN, whose unique location has boosted cross-border tourism.

"It takes only a short time to pass through customs, just a few seconds to swipe the card. During the process, the border inspection staff are very warm, giving timely help to us if needed. Give thumbs up for their service."

In 2023, Dongxing Port received more than 11,500 inbound Vietnamese tourist groups, with tourists number reaching over 131,000.

With a simplified cargo clearance process, it also experienced a substantial influx of freight vehicles crossing its gates from both sides of the border.

"As the shelf life of tropical fruit and fresh seafood products is short, efficient transport is highly demanded. So, the Dongxing border inspection station has introduced a series of measures to optimize customs clearance, such as customs passage appointment service, green channels for fresh food products, etc. The inspection time for inbound and outbound trucks passing through the port has been shortened to 30 seconds from 2 minutes."
