Outrage erupts as man pressed to compensate for shattered glass at billiard hall in China
An outrage erupted as a man pressed to compensate for a shattered glass at a billiard hall in northern China.
The CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Changchun in Jilin Province on December 20, 2023.
A man met up with his friends for a game of pool. As they were leaving the pool hall, the glass door unexpectedly shattered, leaving the man bewildered as he claimed he hadn't applied much force.
Following a heated discussion with the pool hall owner, he reluctantly compensated with 800 yuan (£89). The man shared the video of the incident on social media, sparking widespread condemnation of the hall owner for allegedly taking advantage.
In response, the pool hall staff asserted that the glass inexplicably broke, and despite the actual cost being 1,600 yuan (£177), they initially only asked the man to cover half the amount.
Facing online backlash, they have reported the incident to the police for further investigation.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
