The Guardia Civil is investigating a man as the alleged perpetrator of an animal cruelty crime for abandoning eight newborn puppies in a container in the town of La Parrilla in Valladolid. The puppies were found inside a plastic bag and tragically died.

On November 14, a resident walking his dog on the outskirts of the municipality, located about 27 kilometers from the capital Valladolid, heard the cries of the animals. Upon opening the container lid, he discovered eight newborn puppies in a plastic bag. Unfortunately, three were already lifeless, and he took the remaining five for veterinary care. Despite efforts, the puppies succumbed to their condition.

After filing a complaint with the Guardia Civil in Tudela de Duero, the Seprona team conducted inquiries, utilizing the SIACYL base of the Agriculture and Livestock Department. This base contains the animal registry.

Through this process, the number of potential mothers matching the found puppies was narrowed down. DNA tests were then conducted on the possible mothers and the abandoned puppies to establish maternal-filial relationships. The results led the Guardia Civil to charge the owner of a female dog whose genetic profile matched that of the abandoned animals with animal cruelty.
