Footage shows an aquarium and a chandelier shaking inside a home in Davao City, Davao del Sur province during a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in southern Philippines early Tuesday morning.

Philippine seismological agency PHIVOLCS said the quake struck southeast of Balut island in Sarangani town, Davao Occidental province at 4:48 am local time on January 9.

The tremor occurred 94 kilometres underground and did not trigger tsunami alerts. PHIVOLCS said aftershocks were expected, but infrastructure damage was unlikely.

In December, a 7.4 magnitude quake struck off Surigao del Sur province, also in the country's south, killing one pregnant woman.
