SUV crushed in China as massive tree topples during roadworks
An SUV was crushed as a massive tree toppled during roadworks in southern China.
The video was filmed in Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province on January 4.
A tree suddenly toppled over when a construction worker was operating on a roadside. The workers reacted swiftly, scrambling to safety. However, an SUV passing by on the road failed to evade the falling tree in time, resulting in a direct hit.
The impact also led to a parked bus by the roadside being crushed.
The construction team explained that they were merely carrying out road work and had not anticipated the tree's collapse, as it was commonly tilted in that manner.
Municipal authorities assured that compensation would be provided for the affected vehicles, and they pledged to enhance monitoring of potential hazards posed by roadside trees.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
