An elephant with short legs struggled to climb down a truck that had transported him to the city.

Footage shows the animal named Ning Nong slowly descending from the back of a lorry before revealing a painted face and red rope around its neck in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand on July 12.

The history of elephant captivity in Thailand dates back centuries, with the jumbos being used for transportation, logging, and warfare. In more recent times, captive elephants have been primarily used for tourism, with activities such as elephant rides, trekking, and shows being popular attractions.
