A driver under the influence tried to fool traffic police officers chasing him by drifting, parking the vehicle on the pavement and turning the lights off.

At the beginning of the surveillance camera footage recorded in the city of Heze in Shandong, China, the drunk driver dangerously drifted the car mid-road while trying to flee police on January 5.

After the crazy manoeuvre, he then parked the vehicle on the pavement and turned the lights off in an attempt to fool the officers heading in his direction.

But when his plan failed and one of the officers got out of the patrol car in order to catch him, he again tried to escape by drifting his way out before crashing into a light pole.

The officer then rushed towards him and he was reportedly taken into custody.
